The Best Vision

The Best Vision

Most of us have eye-sight. Do we all have insight?

I wrote a piece a few days ago for this blog site – Insight Again.

I want to push this idea a bit further.

J C Penney was visited once by George Fox University President, David Le Shana.  As Mr. Penney sat examining the business card of President Le Shana, he was moving it back and forth in an effort to bring the card into better focus.

He looked up as Dr. Le Shana approached his desk.  He said, “You’ll have to forgive me.  I’m losing my vision.”

He stopped.  Slammed his hand on the desk and said, “No, that’s not right.  I’m losing my eyesight.  I’ll never lose my vision.”

I think Mr. Penney got it right.

I hope we get it right.  Insight is better than eyesight.

This quote is to my right.  It haunts me every time I sit at my desk.

on my mind today.

Insight Again

Insight Again

What a great quote from Mr. Ford.  He bucked the tide.  He looked beyond the words and wants and saw the future.  He saw the need, and then produced it.

Insight!  That’s what Mr. Ford had.

As did Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, the Space program, the maker of Velcro, the Wright brothers, and a thousand other futuristic minds.

I still love this quote by Steve Jobs:

It All Starts Somewhere

It All Starts Somewhere

Every success, every superstar had a beginning.  Oh, they
weren’t much, perhaps, back then.  They had to grow into their skill and their success.

And, if they have become a true master, you should listen to their stories of the early days, the early failures.  I’ve been listening to Oprah Winfrey’s Master Class blogs.  Oh my, you should hear some of the stories I’ve heard.  These now GIANTS had their early struggles.  Some lived in their automobiles for months at a time.  Others were kicked out on the street, or abandoned, suffered failure after failure, rejection and ridicule.

And they persisted.  They grew into their success using the seeds and fragments of their failures.

That is the secret to success in whatever endeavor we pursue.

If it really is your desire, then wade through the crap of bad luck, bad timing, bad choices and the awful rejections.  And then use those experiences to build your life and career upon.

This is what is
on my mind today.
