These Things I Know Today

These Things I know Today

Covid-19 is still with us.  We are seeing some downward trends in some areas of this globe that it is being conquered, yet it still exists.  The global economy has been impacted by this pandemic.  Many hopes and dreams of spirited entrepreneurs have been disrupted in the middle of this madness.

And this is what I know for today.

~Mankind will ultimately overcome and eradicate this threat.
~Our economies will rebound.
~New dreams and new hopes will arise from the ash-heap of Covid-19.

AND … God is still in control.  I often have to remind myself that God never promises to keep bad thing from us.  He DOES promise to be with us in the middle of the bad and the good.

My faith is in mankind, our medical capabilities, and my God.

What are you clinging to today?

This is what is
on my mind today.

Today Is the Maker of Tomorrow

Today Is the Maker of Tomorrow

When wisdom walks in, I give it the best seat in the house.  Such is the case for this quote.

I can drum today because of hours of drumming in my youth, and listening to recordings of my heroes.  Mike Graham (a childhood friend-still friends) and I would slow down the recording as slowly as our record player would allow and listen intently to a particular drummer until we could mimic what he/she was doing.

I wonder if that quote is applicable to my health as well?  Probably so.  I had heart surgery 18-months ago because of too many bad choices in my years of living and eating prior to that surgery.

Moving forward, what do you and I want our lives to resemble?  The positive outcome starts today, no matter our age.

This is what is
on my mind today.

I'm Better Because of People

-->
I’m Better Because of People

One year ago tonight, (Dec 17) I was facing my open-heart surgery.  It happened on the 18th.  What a momentous event that was.  And one year later, here I sit, because of a lot of people in my life.

My wife became my care-giver during those critical months of recovery.  I couldn’t have made it without her.  Thank you, CB.  I love you dearly.

My surgeon, Dr. Sam, was the best!  He not only was skillful.  He was personable.  He showed interest before and after.

My cardiologist, Dr. Neil, and his kind staff continue to care for me.  They are a critical part of my lifeline now.  We are attached in good ways.  So thankful for you all.

My nursing team did what they should have done to care for me.  So thankful for each of them, and most of them remain nameless, considering the state I was in at that time.

The creators of all the tools and medicines used on me during the procedures and afterwards, for my healing, are to be commended.  I’ll never know their names, but thank you for your contribution.

My many friends and family members who supported us, loved us, prayed for us, and visited during those days, thank you.  You were all a part of the healing that happened.

God used many people to help me heal.  And the healing continues.

I am reminded daily that life really is … All About People!

This is what is
on my mind today.

Sometimes We Withdraw

Sometimes We Withdraw

This quote demands some think time.

In an age of prolific social media usage, this is more important than ever.

I use social media.  I depend upon it for my writing and for the social connections I maintain.  However, I am learning that I have a very good filter and can activate this ‘filter’ when need be.  I can ignore posts, even certain individuals who talk, often just to hear themselves talk.

There is a lot of “stuff’’ out there, and a lot is being said on a variety of topics.  Are you swallowing it all hook, line and sinker?  I hope not.

Rather, I find a weekend away on occasion, or an hour spent sitting on Sunset, watching the seagulls and listening to the water does much to restore balance and peace to my world.

It is these ‘withdrawing moments’ that become my salvation.

How do you withdraw?

This is what is
on my mind today.
