Sometimes We Withdraw

Sometimes We Withdraw

This quote demands some think time.

In an age of prolific social media usage, this is more important than ever.

I use social media.  I depend upon it for my writing and for the social connections I maintain.  However, I am learning that I have a very good filter and can activate this ‘filter’ when need be.  I can ignore posts, even certain individuals who talk, often just to hear themselves talk.

There is a lot of “stuff’’ out there, and a lot is being said on a variety of topics.  Are you swallowing it all hook, line and sinker?  I hope not.

Rather, I find a weekend away on occasion, or an hour spent sitting on Sunset, watching the seagulls and listening to the water does much to restore balance and peace to my world.

It is these ‘withdrawing moments’ that become my salvation.

How do you withdraw?

Being Invisible

-->
Being Invisible

I have often thought it would be such fun and
helpful to be invisible.  I could move around, eaves drop on conversations, help the helpless, hurt the bad guys.  You know the drill.

Sometimes, I have been invisible.  Have you?  That’s when you’re a part of a team, let’s say, yet you keep getting ignored.  No one calls on you in meetings, you raise your hand and they pick the lady next to you.  It’s as if you were invisible.

Being invisible is no fun, actually.  It actually hurts.  It is as if you didn’t exist.  Can you relate?

I’ve come across a few invisible individuals in my lifetime.  And then I start to tune into their invisibleness, that is when I go to work.  One of my jobs in life is to bring out that invisible person into the light.  I want to find ways of validating them, encouraging them and I’ll find a word or two that unlocks their soul and lets them know they are a person of worth.

So, to all you invisible types out there … I see you.  You are not a nobody.  You are not a worthless piece of ____.

You have value and worth.  Your voice matters.  Your opinions matter and we need to hear from you too.

For just a few minutes, drop your invisibility cloak and show us what you’ve got.  We need to see it.

This is what is
on my mind today.

Thoughts on Getting Well

Thoughts on Getting Well

I’m coming out of a one-year ordeal in dealing with my heart and having heart surgery.

I have a choice in the thoughts I think about these past twelve months.  I could reflect on the inconvenience, the uncomfortableness, the bloated feelings, the shortness of breath and such.

I could dwell on those thoughts, you know.

But rather, I want to dwell on the good that has come from it all.  I breathe easier, I weigh less, I feel much better than one year ago.

I’m ahead of the game, and I choose to think about that.

I have a better knowledge of foods to eat, an exercise plan, and time to execute that.  I have a work schedule that suits my body and condition.

I’m better than I was twelve months ago.  And every week I get a little better.

I’m healing, I’m being healed, and I thank God and I thank modern medicine and well-trained medical professionals.

I’m in good condition for the condition I’m in.  It’s an attitude kind of thing.

Are you getting well?

This is what is
on my mind today.
