Words Bring Hope

The age old question is this – What’s in a word?

Words can be a powerhouse of hope or a sledge hammer of destruction.  What kinds of words will come from your mouth and mine?

To this day, sometimes I still replay some harsh and negative words that have been tossed my way.  I know cognitively that I should never dwell on those words; however, my subconscious still remembers them.

On the other hand, I can replay some amazing and life enriching words of esteem that I've heard about my life or talents or contributions.  Those words are like oxygen to my soul.  They refresh me and inspire me.

Once, I heard a publisher say this about my writing:  “Michael is a writer’s writer.”  Wow.  What a comment.  Do you think that inspired me to go out and write volumes of material?  You bet it did.

Let’s look at some of the other benefits of strong and affirming words and their effect on people.

Words bring …
  ~Hope
   ~Healing
    ~Inspiration
     ~Renewal
      ~Refreshment
       ~Instruction
        ~Guidance
         ~Correction
          ~Direction

Now, spend a few minutes contemplating these words.  Remember, they apply to the people in your world too. Every person you meet is wearing an invisible sign that says,

Make Me Feel Important.

Praise for the Critic

I love critics.  Want to know why?  I don’t have to try and change their mind.  Critics are going to criticize and that is just the way the world works.  If critics will be critics no matter what, then I can move on down the road and appeal to those who already follow me, like me and want more of what I do.

Seth Godin has helped me immensely with this idea.  Here is his direct quote:

“Unsubscribers and critics are a gift.  They save you the job of working out who your target audience is.  Not everyone is going to love your widget, program or writing content.”  And, I might add, neither will they like your church, song choice, clothes, shoes, spices on your enchiladas, and your lasagna recipe.

I do not have as a stated goal to “win the world over to like my blogs.”  If I did, I’d write a little bit of this philosophy, that ideology and yet another slant or philosophy in every post and in the end would never reach anyone.

I am all about finding my niche and the people who appreciate that niche.  It is to that group of individuals to whom I write.

Sorry to lose the rest of you.

Now, what is your hook?  Find your tribe and make it work.

Go to Luck School

Luck School is where they teach some great stuff.  It’s where magic happens.  Let’s go to Luck School.

At Luck School we do things on purpose, with great intention.  We learn at Luck School.

And, believe it or not, we get lucky sometimes at Luck School.

We get lucky, I think, because we show up.

WE SHOW UP.

~We write on days we don’t feel like writing.
~We run on days when we don’t feel like running.
~We build computer software on days when we don’t feel like building.

We do the thing, and sometimes we get lucky, because it works, we win, and we get better.

WE GET BETTER … at Luck School.
